Working to Influence Parliament to Protect Our Children’s Future

The very future of Canada, the future we will pass on to our children, grandchildren and generations to come, depends in large measure on protecting and preserving traditional marriage.
The reason is simple. Throughout human history and across societies and cultures, marriage between a man and a woman has been the fundamental and essential foundation of strong families. Strong families have always been the foundation of all healthy and successful societies. Anything that undermines our families threatens our future.
And make no mistake. Legalizing same-sex marriage will undermine our families. Click here for analysis of why this will happen. If you are convinced, as we are, that preservation of traditional marriage in Canada is vital to the good of all, and especially to our children for generations to come, then we urge you to join with us. Help us influence the Canadian Parliament to protect traditional marriage.

~ Our Mission Statement ~

Vote Marriage Canada exists to lead a non-partisan, issue campaign in Parliament and “on the ground” dedicated to marshalling a majority of parliamentary votes in favour of restoring marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman excluding all others and to secure its recognition as the foundation for families and Canadian society.

By Louis DeSerres, B.A., M.B.A.

LONDON, Ont. — Former Liberal and outgoing Independent Member of Parliament Pat O’Brien congratulated, today, pro-marriage candidates elected across Canada.

Said Pat O’Brien, “On behalf of Vote Marriage Canada, I am congratulating the women and men elected and re-elected as Members of Parliament for their determination to represent the majority of their constituents and for their courage to take a stand in favour of the traditional definition of marriage.  It is clearly evident by the results that certain candidates in tight races leading up to the election benefitted by our endorsement and by our resources.  It is our expectation that every candidate who has taken a stand and given clear indication of supporting marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman in the next Parliament will now do so at the appropriate time.”

Almost 60% of candidates endorsed by Vote Marriage Canada were elected or re-elected as Members of Parliament.

Vote Marriage Canada is carrying on a non-partisan, national campaign calling on the next Parliament to restore and to promote marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman.

With B.C. Co-Chair Reed Elley, Atlantic Co-Chair Elsie Wayne, and Quebec Co-Chair Louis DeSerres, National Co-Chairs the Hon. Grant Hill, P.C., and Pat O’Brien, M.P., are calling on Parliament to recognize that marriage as the union of one man and one woman is the foundation of families and Canadian society.

What does a National Christian Organization ASK their membership to do this Election?

Each Vote Will Count

“For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation. Ungodly men who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Jude 4

Dear Friends,

This mailing is going to all of our brothers in the WiseChoices® program. Earlier this year, you were provided information in our mailing and on the Promise Keepers Canada web site about the importance of “taking a stand” on Biblical issues: most specifically we talked about the defense of traditional marriage. The Board and Leadership Team of Promise Keepers Canada believe that we now have an incredible opportunity to elect a Parliament of conscience. Each vote will count and most importantly, your vote will count.

Your chance to affect the moral culture of our great Nation is now.

Numerous faith group organizations across Canada are coming together at this time of national opportunity with an objective to promote and assist candidates in certain ridings whose values will begin to curb Canada’s slide into moral decay. It may be that you live in one of these targeted ridings, or it may be that you feel moved to support the election of a bold candidate in ridings where, through the mobilization of the moral right, we can have a voice in the next Parliament.

We are asking you to stand with us and make a difference in the forthcoming federal election.

Here’s what you can do:
Prayerfully consider your participation in helping to elect a Parliament that honours Biblical values. Without prayer, the task is impossible.
Investigate which candidate in your riding will most closely reflect your values. Stay informed!
Consider if you are able to assist this candidate through whatever time, talent or finances you possess.
When the polls open – BE THERE, and encourage your family to ‘be there’ too!
Strong Biblical values are vital in the promotion of a healthy Canadian society.

As brothers in Christ, we have a limited window of opportunity to do the right thing. We pray that you would be moved to take your place in the history of our great Nation to preserve the God given freedoms and the traditions that make Canada great. Will those freedoms and traditions remain for our children and our grandchildren? It is up to each of us.

GOD keep our land

Defend Marriage Canada Begins Campaign
to Elect a Pro-traditional Marriage Parliament

Ottawa, November 22, 2005

Media Release

Pat O’Brien, M.P., (Independent) for London-Fanshawe, and the Hon. Dr. Grant Hill, P.C., former M.P. and former Interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, announced today a national campaign to elect a pro-traditional marriage Parliament at the next election.

Mr. O’Brien and Dr. Hill are the national co-chairs of this co-operative grassroots campaign called “Defend Marriage Canada”.

Grant Hill and Pat O’Brien were on opposite sides of the House for 11 years. This non-partisan approach is evident in their working together. Mr. O’Brien said “working with a former political opponent on this issue shows how important traditional marriage is to both of us, as it is to millions of our fellow Canadians”.

The campaign will be non-partisan in nature, national in scope and will in some ridings express a clear preference for a given candidate. This preference or endorsement will be based not on political party, but on the bases of candidates’ publicly-stated views on restoring the traditional definition of marriage.

The key goal of “Defend Marriage Canada” is to elect a parliament which will restore the traditional definition of marriage as “the union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others”.

This campaign will encourage Canadians in all 308 ridings to support the strongest pro-traditional marriage candidate. It will pay closer attention to certain ridings.
